Our friends at Freehold Public Library will be sprucing up a bit, courtesy of a grant for renovations. The library will be closed for several months. If you have work in the curent show, we will contact you regarding pick up in December. No new shows are scheduled now. We expect to start showing at the library again in a few months. Please do not bring new work when you come to pick up.
The library is hosting an open house for the community Sunday 12/4. Drop in and enjoy our art show and the company!
Join us this Wednesday at AROUND THE CORNER ART CENTER, 290 Mounts Corner Drive, Freehold, NJ. Bring a painting for critique.
Our speaker will be Ann Marie Fitzsimmons, whose paintings show the beauty of nature, with a touch of darkness. Natural forms are juxtaposed with unnatural found objects to make the viewer ask questions. Her paintings are thoughtfully cropped to create a visually exciting image that unites otherwise unrelated places or things in the same picture plane.

Program Topic, from Ann Marie.
Though my lifelong journey to create a masterpiece, I paint subjects that are original and aim to evoke emotion from their viewers. My talk will be about where I find inspiration for my art and how to make a visually interesting composition.
Ann Marie is also willing to offer critiques of artwork because we ALL learn from carefully “looking.” Attendees are invited to bring one piece of work for a critique.
Ann Marie currently teaches adults, teens and children at the Around the Corner Art Center in Freehold.

Dr. Edoardo Mungiello will be presenting his talk “Where God Speaks Italian” on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 3pm at the Freehold Art Gallery.
“It’s an obligatory thing for tourists to do when visiting Italy: The Incessant Church trekking. One can wander into one too many and begin to suffer from Holy Overload. Dr. Edoardo Mungiello, of the Freehold Art Gallery, has put together a lecture series on some of the innumerable sacred sites of Italy, but pares down the list to give you some must sees that you may not know, and why you need to get to know the places “where God speaks Italian.” In these lectures, Professor Mungiello will introduce or deepen your understanding of some of the most unusual and beautiful of them, and they certainly aren’t all churches. His choices may surprise you. It will be an idiosyncratic journey and promises not to bore the casual tourist or the expert. He hopes to invite discussion and join in the fruitful discussion on beauty, the sacred, and identity.
