GENERAL MEETING 1/15/2025

73 E Main Street, Freehold, NJ

Please come join us on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Freehold Elks Lodge, 73 East Main Street in Freehold for our first General Meeting of the New Year.

Our very talented member, Stephanie Novatski, will be guiding us through a workshop as we create a very unique piece of jewelry.

As always, this event is FREE and all members and friends are welcome.

Our host, Stephanie will be providing all of the materials to make this necklace; paper, tape, scissors, inks, brushes and chains. We do recommend you bring your own costume jewelry such as an old chain necklace, small pins, earrings and/or beads. The small jewelry will be mounted on the front of your unique piece of jewelry. Pieces of chain or strands of small rhinestone may be a nice addition also to place around the shapes.  Pieces of broken jewelry can also be useful.  If you have any jewelry tools, please bring them as well.

Here are some of Stephanie’s beautiful creations:

They measure approximately 2” x 2”, 3/8” deep.  They contain a pre-made accordion fold out photo album.

Art Walk 8/26/2023 Freehold Boro

Join us at Freehold Boro Hall 30 Mechanic Street August 26 at 2 pm for the unveiling of the Freehold Mural. It was begun by Freehold Art Society founder Winnie Smart in the 1980’s and recently completed by current Art Society President Leslie Daley. The work depicts Freehold’s history in 2 panels 12’ x 8’ each.

At the same site, Freehold Boro Hall, various paintings by Freehold Art Society are on display.

From there, it’s a short block to our next stop, Freehold’s outdoor mural. Along the way, we’ll pass some of the horse sculptures from the 1/2 mile of horses on Main Street.

Our Art Walk wraps up across the street at Freehold Art Gallery, 7 West Main, 2nd floor. The Freehold Art Society is sponsoring an art show and contest of our members wonderful and varied works. Winners of the art contest will be announced at that time. Light refreshments will be served.

The Neighborhood Preservation Program & Freehold Borough Historic Preservation Commission with Downtown Freehold are calling all artists to participate in the 2023 Half Mile of Horses Art Walk. The project involves painted horse sculptures decorating Main Street, honoring the equine heritage of Freehold Borough (home to the oldest half-mile horse racing track in the county)! We welcome your participation in a public art project combining creativity and history. Click here to see the 12 creative designs from last year’s artists.

All submissions will be judged by the NPP Committee. 18 designs will be chosen for this year’s exhibit. Effort is important – detailed and carefully executed designs are more likely to be chosen! Deadline for submissions is May 12, 2023.
